A Positive Year's End In NE
Intensity, duration and frequency of exercise are all factors to think about in our exercise programs. A change in one (or all) of the three things can make your fitness plan more effective or help you to take that next step. In order to ramp up your fitness plan, you have to either increase how hard you are working (intensity), extend the amount of time you are spending on the activities (duration), or increase how often you perform the activities (frequency), or a combination of more than one of these factors.
Using this concept will help you to see results and will also give you some variety in your work-outs. Becoming bored is one of the main hurdles people face in staying committed to fitness. But, be careful to allow some time for rest and to work in these changes gradually so you don’t become sore or injured. A. Riehl, A Real Motivated Nebraskan Thanks to All of YOU!

Hi Everyone!
Me again :) I thought I would share this cartoon and joke about this blog, but then say that what I have definitely found to be most crucial for me is to move more...meaning I have to workout in some fashion daily or my fitness efforts are not fruitful.
For today's adventure my dad and I went for a run in the lovely WI weather...temperature of a balmy 32 degrees, however, the wind was 26 mph...needless to say it was humorous running on the ice and snow, into the wind...but when we returned I felt accomplished :)
I honestly can say that I have never found enjoyment in running as my dad has for years, but I am learning to develop an appreciation for the time to think and just enjoy the peace and quiet of running...after all, it is just you and the road when you are out there. Hope you are all enjoying your Monday afternoons!

This is blog entry #1 for the Johnson Family 2009 mission, Mission: FITpossible. In chatting at Christmas time a few of us decided to create a family fitness, motivational, and "keep us on our toes" blog in order to start the new year out with motivation to exercise, make better food choices, and to prepare ourselves to wear those swimsuits come Spring Break '09.
As our family's blog we can use this to communicate with each other, near and far, to coach and motivation our fitness efforts from Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri. There is no special format on how to use this blog...write what you like, post what you like, when you like, but if you aren't posting for a awhile I can't guarantee that someone won't harass you :)
Unlike the movie title from which I borrowed and slightly modified the title of this blog, our mission is NOT impossible, but DEFINITELY POSSIBLE. We can all do this!!! We will be happier, healthier and stronger individuals in 2009, and just maybe we all might become even closer. Love You all and look for my first post :)
